What causes image blur?  Many things actually, including focusing errors, low light conditions which can mean shutter speeds that are too long, high ISO settings in the camera, and even using too small or too large of an aperature setting.  Try to avoid these conditions when possible.  If you can, use a tripod or monopod.  When handholding the camera remember to take a breath and squeeze the shutter release.  Jabbing at it will produce camera motion and that equals image blur.
